one month

i'm a day late, but my friend had this great idea to write a letter to her boy every month till the one year mark, and i loved it, so i want to do the same.  so here is what should have been written yesterday (he's the one who kept me from it haha):

dear aaron
i cannot believe that it has been one month already!  you have already gotten so big, when i think back to the tiny little guy i first held in my arms.  you are the sweetest bundle of joy your daddy and i could have hoped for.  heavenly father truly blessed us by allowing you to come to us!  there are a few things i wanted to remember for later...
- you eat SO WELL.  you actually gained a whole pound the first week!
- you have the most adorable cry ever.  i don't like it when you cry while i drive though, because i can't comfort you then, and even though i know it's because you're just tired, it still makes me sad.  but, i still love the sound of it, because i know it's your cry, and you are mine.
- you absolutely love it when daddy comes home.  if you are crying, all we have to do is put you on his shoulder and you are happy again.  if you're not crying, chances are you will start to and continue until he holds you.
- you have auntie em's toe nails.  and that makes me sad for you, and me.  (it means ingrowns coming.)  we'll work through it.
- you are SO STRONG!  you held your own head up almost from the beginning.  and not just a wimpy one or two seconds, either.  and now at one month, you can just look up at daddy or me for ages before your little neck tires out.  both of us love it.
- i swear you're going to roll over any day now.  your little arms and legs flail and kick and you arch your back... and get onto your side... it's coming, soon!
- you love to sleep on your tummy.  in order for you to take a nice long nap, you have to be on your tummy.  it scared me at first, so at night i would wake up every 10 minutes, but you are so content that i've relaxed... a little :)
- you outgrew your moses basket by week 2, and i don't think the cradle will last past month 2... you grow so fast!  nana especially loves it, seeing those cheeks and rolls.
- uncle ben and auntie ali are SO EXCITED for you and me to come live with them.  i just want you to remember that you are loved, by absolutely everyone!
- your eyes are such a beautiful blue, and your hair is... auburn?  jury's still out on that one.  either way, you are perfectly healthy and perfectly formed in every way.  you are already a lady's man!
- you had your baby blessing on the 28th of august.  daddy said the most beautiful things, in the most beautiful way for you.  i hope you can fulfill those dreams we have for you - they will make you happy!
- cloth diapers are quite the adventure, and i think you are still getting used to me taking a little longer.  but you seem to like them great.
- you LOVE bath time!  even if you are screaming mad, you will calm down in the warm water and just stare at me, so so so happy!  only thing is, when it's time to get out we've got to cover you up fast, because you hate getting out.  if we cover you up fast, you stay warm and cocooned, hence you stay happy.
- you have such strong legs.  you have almost jumped - or really, catapulted! - yourself out of our arms on more than one occasion.  it drives me nuts (because i freak out every time), but it's quite entertaining at the same time.  you definitely do not like restricted legs!
- you are constantly making faces.  smiles, frowns, silly O-s, and much more!
- i love when you sneeze.  you fling your arms together (from waaaay out) like your crashing some cymbals.  it's especially funny when you sneeze 2 or 3 times in a row.
- lately you only stop crying (the crying-for-no-reason, or the i'm-past-the-point-of-exhaustion-so-all-i-can-do-is-scream) if you have your pacifier.  i must say, when i have things to do i love that you love it!

i know that's a lot, but really it's not even the beginning of everything we adore about you.  i love you so much, i just can't believe it.  i really did not know my heart could hold so much love.  i know that's the cheesiest line i could use right now, but it's absolutely true.  you are amazing, and neither i or daddy can imagine life without you in it.  you have changed our world upside down, and it's made us incredibly happy.

love, mommy

while typing this, here is what he's doing :)
 chilling in his favorite chair
 doing what he does best!
in the car, and he refused the pacifier.  turns out i taste better :)
just observing the world.  you are my favorite, little monkey!
