dear aaron,
i love you. i can't say it often enough.
- naps are still going strong. we've started reading stories though so you get sleepy. it's a new favorite tradition, and so far we've read all the pooh stories. rhyming, poetic, whimsical stories are definitely best.
- you are adorable to listen to as you play. you run around with all your toys, fighting bad guys or going to school or making dinner or just having conversations. everything around you has a character and can and will be played with. new favorite at dinner: blowing bubbles in your drink (why is milk so good at this?).
- you love to snuggle. nothing new, but you like to smile big at whoever you are snuggling, and it's so cute.
- you love to play with ana and help her. still. thank heavens.
- you do NOT like snoring. those who snore are woken up and told to STOP IT. haha!
- you have started writing words out how they are supposed to be written: left to right, in a single line. we wrote notes to leave all over daddy's car, and you drew cars on most of them, then wrote "CAR" at the top of those ones. (you also drew some water, and labeled that one too.) you are so proud of yourself, and it's just so fun! writing your own name is still your favorite, but new letters to practice are great.
- you are definitely left-handed. you are even starting to solidify how you prefer to hold your crayon/pencil.
- on our flight to visit nana and papa you were such a great helper. funny moment: it was so late, and we had been traveling for over 12 hours, and you had barely had a nap, and you were watching movies on my phone. you started "planes", and as the disney logo had the spotlight come from it you were zoning, and then the fighter planes come zooming from the castle... you jumped as though it had been in 3D and surround sound and life size! "mommy i was not expecting that, that scared me!" it took everything in my power not to laugh out loud, but i sure was chuckling in my seat next to you!
- you love to play with ana, as i said, but you are not ok with strangers, even just other kids, until you've seen them a few times. there were some kids who wanted to play at the airport, and you would run over to me with this grumpy face... i really can't complain though because you play with your sister so well, and the kids you get to know you love to play with. it's funny because you say, "i'm being shy." but in this super grumpy manner.
- you often want to be two, or talk about how you'll be four, and reluctantly say you are three. it's so silly.
- you have started singing your own songs, in addition to copyrighted songs. it's hilarious, and sweet. for instance, you were singing "joy to the world" so sweetly with us for family night the other week, and then earlier this week you wanted to sing "the thanksgiving song" with nana at bedtime. after hearing the song, and trying to sing it right, we said goodnight and went down to papa, where we learned it was a silly song you had been singing with him earlier in the week. it went something like this: "thanksgiving! we're thankful for santaaaa, and presents, and for santa clause, and for thanksgiving..." you also LOVE to sing jingle bells.
- as much as you love all the commercial things of christmas, you have been great in understanding what christmas is really about, and it makes me happy. obviously presents and bright colors and cartoons are more fun, but you have such a sweet spirit about you that the concept of the nativity and our Savior are still something you can grasp.
- you do not like primary right now. it's still new, so i knew it would take some time, but you ran around the primary room the second week screaming "i want daddy!" and had to be taken out... hoping that doesn't happen again and that you come to like your class.
- you love to give kisses in the morning with everyone... but the funniest/weirdest is when you grab my face and try to kiss me like daddy does, and we all end in fits of giggles. so ridiculous! thankfully it's only happened twice so far.
you are just so silly. when you are angry you explode, but then i know you really need a nap. other than that you are great, and i could not have asked for a more wonderful little boy.
love, mommy
