new year, obligatory new goals post, right?
i looked at my post from last year. it was long, with four big goals. totally doable, but then a lot of stuff happened in the second half of the year so... not everything was checked off. but i've made progress, so i don't consider it a total loss. church callings, teaching dance, lots of art projects, change in job plans, these all happened instead of the other stuff i had planned. i've changed and i hope it's been for the better.
so this year i've got some goals, too, because having solid goals is easier to measure against than just a generic "be a better person", haha.
1. family. aaron and i have been having some issues because he is becoming more independent and i've been more stressed. ana is talking more each day and also being very independent. joey's career is going to mean a lot going on this year. i need to get back to the basics of being a wife and mother. this will change this goal month to month, maybe even week to week. taking the time to not yell automatically but calmly listen and validate his feelings. taking the time to read that story for the millionth time. not dragging my feet in the morning. sitting face to face with my husband at the end of the day to really see him. using the five love languages to communicate most effectively with all three of them. taking the time to consciously serve them each day. just really try to strengthen my relationship with each of them, taking time to be with them one-on-one each day.
2. health. i am not a morning person, but i can still go to bed at a decent time and get up before (ok, when) ana wakes up. apply more of this real food stuff i've been looking into, and meal planning better. working out each day if possible, but realizing my stress levels may say otherwise. turn off the screens one hour before bed (ideally two, but to start off, one). just keep trying to improve the good habits and weeding out the bad ones.
3. spirit. continue morning prayers and keeping up with sunday lessons. get back in the personal scripture study habit. review conference talks whenever possible. have fhe every monday. read the ensign. seek the quiet moments more often.
4. knowledge. those spanish lessons are going to help me so much. i have a lot of other things i want to learn, but maybe if i just focus on this one right now, i'll finally finish it :)
i'm sure other things will come up this year and again interrupt where i'm at. but this is a start.
