4,8 and 2,10

dear aaron,
oh what a month!  you are really starting to figure out this "social life" thing!

- you play with the neighbor kids every day now, while all of you are in your own backyards.  we've started to go from one yard to the other with one of the neighbor kids, and it's just great to watch you figure out how to have friends.
- you still need one-on-one daddy time or else you get super cranky.  if daddy can't, i am an acceptable substitute, but just barely, haha.
- daddy has been teaching you his "hero clicks" game, and by doing this he has been teaching you basic addition!  this came as a surprise to me when i was mentioning how much you ate and how much was left, so you told me how much we started with... i casually said, "yep, that's right" before i realized what had just happened, so he was surprised when i suddenly exclaimed, "wait!  yeah, that's right good job when did you learn to do that?!"  (i'm pretty sure it sounded like that ha.)
- you are pretty sure you want to homeschool.  daddy and i are still talking about this, but it's funny how it's just a no-brainer for you.
- you are finally making friends in your church class as well, and being more interactive with the teachers.  i don't know what i'll do when your favorite of the two moves next month... :(
- i love the way your drawings and letters are becoming clearer and more creative.
- you are a reflection of how i react to life, and have been reminding me i need to chill out more.  we've both been working on this.  there was a moment this past month where daddy asked if i tell you that i love you, because you didn't seem sure about this fact.  talk about a major blow, even if/especially since it had been a hard day.
- you've started to cut out nap time more and more.  it's kind of a rough transition!  you stay in your room and play quietly, but you are more testy in the evenings half the time.  but you sleep better at night that way.  definitely a transition!
- you love to play with reed, especially peek-a-boo.  you ask me all the time if he can be in your room yet, or if he can sleep next to you.  the two of you are going to be trouble, i just know it.  i hope you always stay best buds.
- you are still all about superheroes.  in case anyone was wondering.

i didn't do as great a job writing down funny moments this month.  but you are still hilarious and wonderful.  i love you monkey.
love, mommy

dear ana,
this month went by so fast!

- you decided to be the first with a cast!  you weren't listening and decided to climb the register at best buy (?!) and when i told you to get down you slipped and landed juuuuust right on your left wrist.  the xray at the ER (because of course it was a saturday) didn't show anything, but they gave you a soft cast anyways because of how much it hurt.  a week later they put a hard one on it because it was right at the growth plate and they didn't want you doing any more damage.  you just got the cast off today (three weeks later), and were so terrified by the removal process didn't want to move your arm for the first hour after, but finally while playing moved it without thinking about it so i know you're fine.
- you are counting like crazy, and figuring out counting in sign language.  you are also trying to draw your name.  i should probably sit down with you and help you figure it out.  but when we do have time together we play instead, and i think that's more important right now.
- you really need time with me or else you get super grumpy.  you get time with daddy in the mornings often enough that you're ok for that, but if i don't give you enough attention you sure let me know!  playing ponies, princesses, and all things girly is how we make up for that.  and reading!
- reading stories is the best.  we still need to read at least a few books every day.  it's great.
- you love batgirl and wonder woman.  you've also taken to carrying around one of the many batman figures we have (it doesn't matter which) so you can take daddy everywhere.  you had to have it while you got your cast off, for instance.
- if you could stay outside all day long, you would.  as long as you could also be barefoot.  i love it, being able to just look out the window and seeing you in your little world, fighting bad guys and baking cookies.  no, seriously.
- you love playing with reed so much.  you give him all the hugs and kisses you can, and want to hold him pretty much all the time.  it's hard because he's almost as long as you are, but neither of you cares about that.  you are such a big helper and protector.  you have a special bond, and i hope you always do.
- you love playing with the neighbor kids, too, and are the one who helped aaron see that it was ok to talk to and play with them.  you make friends so easily, and are so sweet about making sure everyone can play.  it's so fun to see.

you are so independent and, as always, intense in everything you do and feel and say.  i love you so much silly girl.
love, mommy
